BREAKING NEWS AT THE AGRICULTURAL SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CENTRE

The District of 100 Mile has requested we vacate our office space located at the Lodge, donated to the District of 100 Mile House by the Emissaries of Divine Light with the intention of having a space for people in the community to share and grow. We hang our heads today to mourn the loss of this space that could have been so much more. Please take the time to read the letters below in order to grasp a better understanding of this grievance.

A community dedicated to the education and practice of growing and distributing local food

The "AG Centre" is here, in the 100 Mile House area, for local producers, distributors, purchasers and researchers of agricultural products and related value-added products. Our mandate is to assist, encourage and promote local agricultural production and distribution. We would like our community members to be their own providers of their food.

img_0047.jpgWe are interested in environmental responsibility, ethical food production and distribution, food security, sustainability, and a strong local economy.

You are invited to regular board meetings, or drop in for coffee Friday Mornings. Please phone ahead (778-482-2216 or 250-395-0781) to let us know if you are coming or if you have any questions about the Ag Centre.

Come and see us at the Farmers' Market throughout the growing season. If you are looking for farm produce any time of the year, please access our Farm Fresh Guide.

A Little About Us

We are a Non Profit Society, governed by a Board of Directors and expert advisory affiliates.

Thanks to the District of 100 Mile House, we have an office in the historic Lodge building. We act as a focal point for the South Cariboo agriculture community, working cooperatively to ensure success, provide services (including business development and productivity workshops) promote community food security with food security initiatives, and ultimately strengthen our local food system by expanding consumers’ retailers’ and restauranteurs’ access to local products.

We support and encourage activities that enrich and sustain rural life.

Engage

img_0034.jpgSupport This Important Initiative! If you eat, you are involved with agriculture.

We are actively seeking members. A lifetime membership costs $10. Members can attend board meetings, vote at Annual General Meetings, nominate directors, and be elected to the Board of Directors. Print this membership application, complete it and mail to our office at the address below with your $10 (per adult) fee. (Cheques payable to SCAEC or South Cariboo Agri-Culture Enterprise Centre.)

You can support this initiative without getting a membership if you wish. We welcome volunteers for various kinds of help and brainstorming as we develop our organization. Complete this volunteer form to let us know what kind of assistance you are interested in. You can print and mail this form, or you can click the Email button and it will be sent to our database email address automatically.

Of course you can engage by shopping for local food products! We plan to expand on this local food producers directory which has been in use in our community for two years now. You are invited to submit your own locally produced products for the next version. This form can be filled in and submitted online, or you can print it and mail it in.
